This Gazebo is in a small city park located at the corner of 1st St. & Main St. It is the western edge of the 200 to 400 yard wide Chisholm Trail that passed north through this town.
Caldwell is called the "Border Queen", misleading all who visit her.
The movies made Dodge City the big bad cattle end of trail town, but this town really was. Between 1865 to 1880, 18 town Marshals were killed, along with saloon owners, and a whole slew of cowboys.
BTW: (By the Way): Border Queen is the name used back in the day when referring to the ladies of the night.
