In the beginning of the movie "The Net" with Sandra Bullock, Ken Howard's character Secretary of Defense, Michael Bergstrom discovers from a recent blood test that he has AIDS. He has his driver take him to Hains Point in Washington, DC. He sits at a picnic table next to the sculpture, "The Awakening". He talks with his son about being a good kid and then talks with his wife to let her know that everything with the son is ok. He then pulls out a gun from his jacket and shoots himself. The camera then lifts up showing the full sculpture as well as the southern tip of Hains Poing.

In a news broadcast about his suicide it is learned that Micheal Bergstrom had discovered he had AIDS. As Secretary of Defense he was known to be against gays in the military.

Later in the movie it's discovered that there was a whole in the security program "The Gatekeeper" that allowed hackers into his medical records so that he would think he had AIDS.
