A ship on top of a pub called The Millstream about 60 miles from the sea? Why would that be?

Well, there are tree pubs close to each-other here, The Sailor (which used to be called The Sailor Boy), The Anchor and The Millstream (which used to be called The Ship). I have two possibilities to suggest. This may well have been an area where men (and boys) were regularly recruited to go to sea, and local publicans named their establishments in recognition of that. Alternatively, it may have been that sailors retiring and returning from sea, set up business as publicans and named their establishments nostalgically.

Whichever of these it may have been, The Millstream has been re-named in recent years. The weathervane is the only remaining evidence of it's former name and I fear that it will one day be removed since it is sitting askew now. It has been like this for years though already.
