Near the centre of the small city of Roi-Et, in north eastern Thailand, is Wat Buraphapiram, and inside this Wat is the largest standing Buddha, in the blessing posture, in the world. This Buddha image is 59.2m high (including the base, 67.85m), and gold in colour—quite a sight. This Buddha can be seen from anywhere in the city centre.

The grounds contain several other Buddhist images, including; a reclining Buddha, the Buddha teaching, bells and gongs, but the standing Buddha dominates the Wat.
