To reach this Project ya gotta hike at least a half hour - on Patriot Trail in the City of San Juan Capistrano - with a good deal of elevation gain.

This pole replaces another (also set by an Eagle Scout) that fell in a wind storm. The first pole was to commemorate 9/11 and was erected by Ryan Pickell. It was vandalized and replaced in 2007 - then a wind storm destroyed that one.

So, for his Eagle Scout Project - younger brother Kyle replaced it with a larger stronger pole - the nearby caches' story comes fro the OC Register story - (visit link) (June 2, 2010)
