This building is very similar to the New Plymouth Boys' High School building built in 1916, so may date from a similar date, although the Girls' school was established in 1885, three years after the Boys'.
The Coat of Arms and motto are the same for both schools, although the motto of the Boys' High School is "Comradeship, Valour and Wisdom".
This building now serves as the 'Uniform Shop' and 'The Cafe', as well as other functions.
