Now known as The Wilbur Theatre, dropping the Ye for a more modern spelling, this theater hosts Broadway In Boston productions. It is located at 246 Tremont St.
The plaque reads:
"Ye Wilbur Theatre opened in 1914. It was designed by architect Clarence Blackhall and is renowned for its architectual individuality, grace and refinement. Ye Wilbur has hosted many world premieres, among them 'Our Town,' 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' 'The Miracle Worker,' and 'Long Day's Journey Into Night.' International stars who have appeared on its stage include Marlon Brando, Ann Bancroft [sic], Kirk Douglas, Patricia Neal, Charleton Heston [sic], Julie Harris, Montgomery Clift, Henry Fonda, Joan Bennett, Carol Channing and Jason Robards."
Note: Although the plaque does not explicitly say "Boston 200", it is in keeping with the style of other Boston 200 plaques found. Thus I am classifying it as such.

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
