This capsule is in the Copley Square Hotel, at the northern corner of Huntington Avenue and Exeter Street near Copley Square in Boston, MA. The capsule is marked by a plaque that reads:
The Copley Square Hotel
100th Anniversary 1891–1991
On this site lies a time capsule commemorating
100 years of continuous hospitality to guests
from around the world.
Dedicated October 5, 1991
One hundred years ago today, the
Copley Square Hotel opened for business on
this site. The general manager said
"There will be no opening ceremony;
the house is simply open for business,
and we shall be glad to see all our friends."
Since that historic day, the Saunders family
has welcomed an estimated 9 million people to
the Copley Square Hotel. We welcome you to
experience with us a piece of Boston history.
This plaque honors
Irving M. Saunders, hotelier extraordinaire
1903-1979
