Bushes with small blue berries grow on the balds near Carvers Gap. Waymarked is the first summit of Round Bald. This location is popular with families, Cub Scout groups, and hikers. Peak season is August to mid-September.
Park at the Carvers Gap parking lot (pit toilet available) and head northbound on the gravel-hardened Applachian Trail.
