The memorial is situated at an intersection with a weird kind of turn. The legion hall sits way back to the rear. The top part of the memorial is an obelisk with the bottom part being three successively bigger rectangular bases. There is an eagle at the top of the obelisk. A big giant artillery shell-chucking gun sits in back of the memorial. Gold plaques adorn all four sids. One of the sides reads:
Soldiers and Sailor Of
Chews Fire District, Who
Served In The World War.
Dedicated, Sept. 13, 1919.
Above this is another golden plaque with the names of eleven servicemen from this region who served in Europe during the first world war. The other three golden plaques also bear the names of those who served. All together there were about forty-four who served.
