the appointment of President Monroe.

Here Henry Eddy and Allen Kimmel
published the first issue of the
Illinois Emigrant,
Illinois' second newspaper,
in June 1818

NOTE: the spelling differences on the two markers. college one from 1976, the wood one is much older.
Most web sites I have visited show the newer spelling "Emigrant".
