There is a really neat brick path with a wavy American flag design in the center of the gray walkway. ALl of this runs parallel to the line of memorials which all stand in a row. To the rear of the memorial are flag. The World War memorial lies to the far left, with the WW II memorial being in the middle and the combined Korean and Vietnam memorial to the far right.
This World War memorial consists of a roughly hewn stone, rounded at the top, rough along its sides and face. Attached to the front is a brass plaque/marker. It reads:
1917 ~ 1919
This Monument Erected
In Honor Of
Our Citizens Who Entered The
Nation's Services In The
World War
There are two columns of 24 names beneath the inscription, 48 names in all. This bronze plaque looks really heavy and is set into the stone, not attached with bolts to the outside like one might normally be. It is not rectangular but a neat design with a little zig-zag action high up and topped with an eagle looking to the left, wings revealed over an American flag crest. There is no dedication date. All monuments are located opposite the Borough Hall at 227 Trenton Avenue in Barrington. The monuments are all made of stone and kind of worn.
