This pool is touted as the "World's Largest Outdoor Municipal Concrete Swimming Pool" by the city of Garden City, Kansas, and holds an amazing 2,200,000 gallons of water.
The pool was dug in 1922, during the Great Depression by locals who used shovels and horse-drawn scrapers. The city has erected a large sign with photos of the creation of this pool, which would be quite an achievement even with today's machinery!
