The memorial is a brass marker with a glass lid which covers over the names of those who are being honored at any given time. The memorial bears the original name of the fire company which was organized in 1829. The memorial was donated by the Ladies Auxiliary. It reads In Memory of Our Members. Unlike most other of these memorials, this one bears no date nor does it contain the name of the fire company. This one was definitely a no frills, bargain basement acquisition.
According to the cornerstone brick, this station was constructed in 1979. I have a feeling the memorial is very much older than the 1979 dated stone would indicate. The memorial overlooks the Susquehanna River in this Civil War era town.
