This marker is located a few feet from the stone wall enclosure once used by Westwood to hold stray livestock. The original Westwood Town Pound (visit link) consisted of a wooden fence, but was later replaced by the stone walled structure found at this location today.

The town pound appears on Westwood's official town seal.

Text of the marker reads:

Town Pound
Built in 1700 by Lieut. Joseph Colburn
-------------------------------
"Land beyond ye Great Rocks Westward"
Marks the location of grant of land in West Dedham made to Rev. John Allin in 1639
