Designed by territorial architect James Miller Creighton and built in 1891 this is the second courthouse constructed for Pinal Country, Arizona. It is the oldest public building in daily use in Arizona. It was built for a cost of $29,000. A shortage of funds resulted in painted metal clock faces in the cupola rather than a working clock. The "clock" is right twice a day at 11:44. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
