There are three official visitors information centres near Sidney, one on the highway serving people coming off the BC ferry, one in Iroquois Park serving the Anacortes ferry and this one on the main street, Beacon Ave. These are sponsored by the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and offer information from both government and commercial sources.

The Visitors Information Centre in this location has been opened for about a year but the building has a long history. This brick structure was originally the Canada Customs Building at the town pier when the Anacortes ferry docked at the end of Beacon Ave. Later it was used as the town marine museum. In the land swap for the development of the Pier Hotel and Condominium, the developer agreed with the town to relocate the brick building and restore it as a Visitors Information Centre. The space for the Ocean Discovery Centre (WM8WBX) in the Pier Hotel development was also part of the deal. The old Customs building has been well restored and serves its new function in this location, on Beacon Ave, just off the highway.

The staff are very friendly and informative. They answered all my questions. They are long time residents in the area and know the local history and tourist attractions very well. Drop in to find out what there is to see and do in Sidney and the Saanich peninsula. Turn left at the first set of lights is you are travelling from the ferry to Victoria. There is a turn lane and advanced green turn signal. The turn right for the info centre.

The building is wheelchair accessible from Beacon Ave. There are no public washroom facilities in the building but accessible public washrooms are available across the road in the Mary Winspear Centre.
Hours of Operation:
Currently 10am - 4pm.

Public Washrooms: No Washroom Facilities Available

Snacks/Drinks at the facility: No - Look elsewhere
