The city of Cheonan was once the crossroads of major routes going north and south from the capital city of Seoul. This three-way intersection, Cheonan Samgeori, was celebrated in a well-known Korean folk song, and is now surrounded by a beautiful park.
Cheonan, now with a half million people, is still famous for its pears, and a special confection known as hodu gwaja (walnut cakes), but is becoming industrialized and is home to nearly a dozen universities. It is now connected to Seoul by the metro subway, and also by the high speed KTX train.
This location is the regular train station with connections to all parts of the country. The former city hall is a few blocks away, the traditional market is to the south, and the more modern city center is to the northeast.
Location Name: Cheonan Train Station
