The Artesian building was built to bottle Dr Pepper and construction was completed in 1906. Dr Pepper was bottled there into the 1960s. This historic building is located in an old warehouse district in downtown Waco. The city of Waco is trying to revitalize the area. The Dr Pepper Company donated the building in 1988. The Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute is a private, non-profit organization that began renovations on the building. The museum opened in 1991 and renovations were finally completed in 1997.
All three floors of the building have museum exhibits. The first floor of the museum also has a gift shop and and old fashioned soda fountain.
