After visiting the Cast Away Intersection in 2006 I then proceeded up the road to Bettina's Ranch where Tom Hanks character tried to deliver his unopened Fed Ex Box which he kept unopened for four years on the island hoping he would one day be able to deliver it.
If you notice in the movie at the beginning when the Fed Ex truck comes to the ranch to pick up the package to Moscow, it had Dick and Bettina on the sign but at the end Dick has been removed. This would have been because of their breakup. We know their marriage is possibly in trouble when we see Dick with his Texas cowboy hat open the door in Moscow to accept a Fed Ex package along with his Russina girlfriend. This is a very important scene to set up the ending as Bettina is now available and obviously attracted to Tom Hanks when she meets him at the Crossroads
This was filmed at the Arrington Ranch close to Canadian Texas and just 6 miles down the road from the Cast Away Crossroads
