The seal itself displays two concucopia overflowing with fruits and vegetables. Above are two scenes- one of a farm (with Palomar Observatory in the distance) and another of a Spanish galleon on the sea. The center is dominated by what appears to be a double-edged axe with a banner reading "County of San Diego".
