This station is made from brick and stucco. The Santa Fe logo - a cross in a circle - appears in the brickwork and in some bushes around the station.

In the mid 1990's the building was going to be demolished but the community got together to save the building. The city of Temple bought the depot as well as some land around it. The city received grant money to help with the restorations. The restoration was completed in 2000.

Today the depot houses the Railroad and Heritage Museum, a giftshop and the Amtrak station. Amtrak has two trains daily.
