Between Dudley, Massachusetts, and Thompson, Connecticut, there is a border between the two states that is crossed by Mass. Route 12. Route 12 goes through the center of Webster, then turns south for a few miles to the border.

The road is pretty straight, here, but it does make a gentle curve as it navigates a generally downhill stretch of road into Thompson. On the west side of the road is an industrial building where trucks enter and leave. Elsewhere, there are residences. One place where you can park to investigate the border is at Perryville Road, which is less busy than Route 12.

There are three signs associated with the border. Approximately at the border itself is a standard sign that is used to mark borders with towns. On the south side, it says:

"Entering
Inc. [Mass. Seal] 1732
Dudley
Mass."

On the north side, it says:

"Entering
Thompson
Conn."

On the other side of the road, there was a stone landscape feature for the industrial facility that looked like it had cairn-like pile of rocks that might have been related to the border.

About 50 feet south of the sign mentioned above, on the west side of the road, is a blue sign stating that you are entering Connecticut. There is a panel that has "CTvisit.com" for tourist information. "M. Jodi Rell" is stated as the current governor. In a separate sign, also in blue, is the phrase, "Town of Thompson."

About 150 feet north of the first sign is a green sign that simply states "Welcome to Massachusetts." There is also a small white sign that states "Heart Safe Community," with an artistic heart in the center.
