Remi Potey painted an interesting sundial in 1996 in Embrun, Hautes Alpes . The sundial features a nude in a in a fountain, The sundial in the circle below is also interesting. It is an afternoon dial declining to the south west. The ball on the gnomon is the nodus for the solstice and equinox declination lines. The sundial is dated and signer with Rémi Potey's trademark.
The motto in the Provençal patois asks the question "How do you see the depth of the water if you don't stop the movement" Perhaps "calm the ripples" would be a better free translation. Mottos are difficult for me especially in Provençal.
The sundial is on the gable of the Chauvin bookstore, Maison de la Presse, on the main shopping square, Place Barthelon in downtown Embrun.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
