The well was marked by the Historical Society in 1954. It is a small greenish plaque held in by four bolts into the concrete curb. To find the corner, find the Acme, it will be to your right, look down and voila!
Fire wells are municipal wells, most near one corner of street intersections (more where fires are more likely), scattered throughout old towns, like Haddonfield. In addition to their purpose of providing water to put out fires, they were used as neighborhood sources of water.
