Park, a large, private resort area on the shores of Lake Michigan, was established in the late 1880s as the estate of Michael Schwartz, a retired real-estate promoter from nearby Holland. Used as a summer camp from 1893 to 1895, the property was opened as a summer resort and the house converted into a hotel in 1896 by John H. Parr. Schwarz's castle-house, much enlarged over the years but still serving as a hotel, is a most unusual, buff-brick, castellated Gothic structure.

NOTE: Since 1993, owned privately by the Castle Park Association. It functions now as a community center and library for Castle Park members. It's no longer a hotel.

I was unable to find an official Michigan Historical Marker for this site. However, it is listed at the Michigan Center for Geographic Information site. (see link below)
