The North Carolina Society of the Cincinnati is a hereditary-patriotic society (similar to Sons of the American Revolution) that originally consisted of members of General George Washington's staff or the officer corps of the Continental Army. It was later expanded to include the ancestors of those eligible for membership. The first national president of the society was George Washington.
The North Carolina Society of the Cincinnati is still in existence as are all the societies in the original 13 states.
