Well used skate and bicycle park at the Thornton Community Center. This park was rededicated to Marine Lance Cpl. Thomas J. Slocum in 2017 for his ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.

This small skate and bicycle park is well used by the local community. There are almost always people practicing and the City of Thornton holds an annual competition in the fall at the Thornton Harvestfest.
The dedication plaque reads:

Died March 23, 2003 serving during
Operation Iraqi Freedom
Age 22, of Thornton, Colo.; assigned to the 1st Battalion,
2nd Marine Regiment;
2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejune, NC.;
killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq.
Tom Slocum was a young man from Thornton
and a 1998 graduate of Skyview High School
who joined the Marine Corps in 1997
and was killed in action defending his
country in the Global War on Terrorism.
In 2017, the Community Park Skate Park was renamed
the Thomas J. Slocum Memorial Skate Park in his memory.
