VERY LIMITED ACCESS TO THIS SCULPTURE!!! ONLY ACCESSIBLE DURING WEEKENDS WHEN SPORTS GAMES ARE IN SESSION!
This is an absolutely amazing sculpture located in the woods behind Holland Hall School. Access is from the back of the elementary school, taking the trail out to the Outdoor Classroom. Direction signs are located at each end of the trails (used for the school's cross country runners), telling visitors which way to go to find the Calyx Dome. It looks like a big adobe hut plopped in the middle of the woods. The bottom is round like a teepee, but the top is more cone-shaped. The entrance door is big enough for a 6 foot tall man to walk in easily. The view from inside is amazing! If you look up it appears to be dozens of small cylinder-shaped holes that let light in to the interior of the structure. The interior walls look like honeycomb or adobe the way they are layered.
