Marker Name: A12 - Sather House
Marker Text: Evan A. Sather, a Norwegian immigrant, was a professional photographer who documented the early lumber industry. Sather arrived in Oregon via Minnesota in 1901. Sensing the coming economic boom in Central Oregon, he moved his family to Bend and opened a two-story mercantile business on Wall Street (site B27). Sather House was home to Evan and Christina and their eight children for many years.

This Heritage Walk plaque was donated in loving memory of Evan & Christina Sather by their children and grandchildren.
