With her sash full of badges, this Girl Scout stands at attention ready to recite the Scout Oath. Next to her, are boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The first Girl Scout cookies were sold in Muskogee in 1917. The proceeds were used to purchase gifts for the troops overseas in World War I. The Mistletoe Troop is credited for the first sales of cookies. It took 19 years for the idea to grow into the cookie sales we see today. The sculpture entitled "A Promice to Keep," was unveiled in 2008.
