Tapotupotu Beach is a popular destination all year for families to enjoy the sand, surf, sun, fishing or what ever the day may bring. Situated on Department of Conservation land there is a no dog policy in place. Toilets, cold showers and picnic tables are available free of charge if there for the day. The usual camping fees apply if staying overnight. A fresh water stream runs down the side of the camping ground providing a save swimmimg area away from the surf. Fishing is available from the nearby rocks or small boats can be launched into the stream and floated to the sea. Tapotupotu is part of the Cape Reinga Coastal Walkway, a distance of 53km, but can be done in short stages. There are no shops or lifeguards. The bay is divided into two with a natural outcrop...the nude area is to the left.
