The original Friedens church (1864) was an early pioneer church for early German emigrants to the area. The cemetery dates to the early days of the church. Many of the early grave stones are inscribed in German and have family names which would be familiar as many of the roads in the area have the same names. The cemetery has a few hundred graves.
