This very rural area boomed during the lumber era and now has very few residents. Most of the buildings near here are seasonal camps used for hunting and fishing. A lot of the original buildings are gone. There was once tanneries and lumber mills through here, now mostly forest. The school is now used for township meetings, and has a garage for a few road maintenance vehicles, and salt for the winter.
