As a part of the Southland Museum and Art Gallery the Southland Astronomical Society Observatory provides locals with a great opportunity to view the stars above.
The telescope is a fork mounted 30cm (12 inch) diameter Cassegrain design. It can also be operated in the classical Newtonian configuration by removing the secondary mirror.
Visit Instructions:Note the time of day of your visit, and your own photo of your favorite part of the observatory. This might be the view from the observatory, picture of your favorite building or favorite exhibit. (Be mindful of flash photography rules!)
