The cone-shaped Ralsko hill (696m) rises 400m high over the plain of the river Ploucnice. The hill, which is made of basalt, is home to the ruins of the once majestic Ralsko castle. The origins of this castle built on a basalt mound are unclear, however it seems clear that it existed already in the 14th century. In the half of the 15th century it was plundered and abandoned. In the second half of the 20th century the castle belonged to the army, and today is again open to the public. The torso of the tower offers a beautiful view.
