This rural church has a large cemetery around the area of the church.
St. Mary's Church was wholly rebuilt, except the tower, by Sir Ralph Lopes in 1829, it has been restored many times since. The church which stands in the centre of the village and next to the Army Camp is surrounded by a large graveyard.
It is believed the church dates back to 1288 and the tower dates to the 15th Century.
