Blue Skies Ahead is a 15 ft. stainless steel sculpture created by UCO Art Professor Joe Daun and conceptualized by College of Arts, Media & Design Development Director Lori Alspaugh. The art work is located at Tinker Federal Credit Union's office at I-40 and Meridian in OKC.
As part of the partnership with the University of Central Oklahoma, the credit union also endowed a scholarship with the college for a UCO design student.
The steel paper airplane is mounted on an aluminum 5 ft. cone that sits atop an approximately 4 ft. square granite base. The cone is what allows the plane to rotate freely in the wind. Since the sculpture is located in a memorial plaza with flags, you can predict the movement of the plane by watching the movement of the flags. If it's a windy day, you'll see the flags flying and plane moving quite a bit.
