The State of Michigan Preservation website at (

"The Thomas Earl House is a two-and-half-story Greek Revival gable-fronter with axial orientation at a right angle to the streets direction. It has a one-story extension across the back of the main block, and a later flat-roofed aluminium sided wing. The east facade of the house is distinctive for the quality and variety of the classical features.
The Thomas Earl House is one of the best examples of Greek Revival, and one of the best preserved, in Ann Arbor. Thomas Earl's relative affluence at the time of his arrival is representative of many Irish immigrants who settled in the Ann Arbor area at the time. In 1859 Thomas had established a grocery business and had been elected city alderman. "
