In Cambridge, on the campus of Harvard University, stands a massive brick building with a very tall tower, designed in a gothic-revival style architecture. This building is known as Memorial Hall/Lowell Complex. In the center of the building is a central hallway, called the transept. This hallway connects two parts of the building: Sanders Theatre, which is a beautiful concert hall, and Annenburg Hall, a private dining facility. This hall is also the place where 28 marble tablets are mounted on the wall bearing the names of Harvard men who fell during the Civil War, and stained glass windows that also honor the fallen.

The marble tablets are on the long walls of the hall. The tablets are arranged by school or department. The name of the person is on the tablet, as well as the year that the person died and the battle where he died.

The stained glass windows are at both ends of the transept. One set of windows has a knight (to represent a soldier), a scholar (to represent the university), and several cherubs above them and angels above the cherubs. The other window has designs, with the word "Veritas" and other virtues integrated into the design.

For more information, follow the link provided below to the web page about this building.

Memorial Hall is located on Cambridge Street where Broadway merges with it. The hall is generally open during school hours from September through June, and is open when Sanders Theatre has an event, often during the night. Parking is an issue here as it is everywhere in Cambridge. There is a public garage north of the building.
