This 26-foot tall statue of Smokey Bear is largest of its kind in the country. The statue was erected in 1953 as a project of the Koochiching County's Keep Minnesota Green Committee. The Smokey Bear is wearing blue pants and a ranger hat. He is holding a shovel in his left hand and his right hand is raised to signal "Stop". Standing next to Smokey are two smaller cubs. On the base is the inscription: Smokey Says "Prevent Forest Fires"
