The Wild Horse Wind Facility is located on the open ridge tops surrounding Whiskey Dick Mountain between the towns of Vantage and Kittitas, Washington. The wind farm is owned and operated by Puget Sound Energy (PSE). The coordinates are at the project entrance off Wash. Hwy. 10 where there is a view of some of the turbines. From April 1st to November 30th PSE operates a visitor center (9:00 am to 5:30 pm) three miles to the north where you can obtain a view of most of the wind farm. The visitor center has displays on renewable energy and local archaeology and geology.
The facility has 149 turbines which have the capacity to generate up to 273 megawatts of electricity. Most of the turbines were constructed between Oct 2005 and Dec 2006 with a 22 turbine expansion in 2009. The towers are 12.2 ft wide at the base, 221 ft high at the hub, 7.6 ft wide at the top, and weigh 104 tons. The turbines have 3-blades which are each 129 ft long. Check here for many other facts (
