Main Street Lufkin maintains the 5 murals on downtown buildings. The murals depict historical scenes of Lufkin and were sponsored by local companies and civic organizations. This 14' x 48' mural, along with the others, was painted by Lance Hunter and received the Presidents Award for Best Public Improvement Project from the Texas Downtown Association in 2001.

This mural is located on the side of a retail building on the corner of 1st St. and Shepherd Ave. It appears that the mural is depicting the corner it is located on but set back in time. The inset of the woman shows the Pines Theatre in the background. The Pines is still located a short distance down 1st Street.
