Opened in 1998, this IMAX has the world’s 3rd largest screen and a 15,000 watt digital audio system.
The theatre screens a wide variety of specially made large format films, many in 3D.
Since 2005, IMAX Melbourne Museum has also offered IMAX versions of feature length mainstream movies that have been digitally re-mastered into the IMAX format.
Open every day of the year (except Christmas Day) films usually screen on the hour, every hour from 10am to 10pm. The exception to this is when special digitally re-mastered feature length films are screened (see below).
