This stadium was home to the 2007 Cricket World Cup where it hosted Super 8 matches. It seats 10,000 people normally but seating can be temporailry doubled to accomidate 20,000. The stadium is named after former West Indies Cricket Team captain, Viv Richards.

The stadium is a 10 minute drive from St. John’s and Antiguas international airport. It contains two main stands and a five story South stand. The stadium is one of the few state-of-the-art venues that encompass underground passageways for the cricket teams to move about. Four massive floodlight towers shower the field in light for evening play. Other facilities include a practice pitch for the various cricket teams, a new beach "Beach 366" (the island has a total of 365 natural beaches some of which were damaged during several passages of severe hurricanes in 1995, 1998 and 2000), training infrastructure and a media centre.

The first Test match staged on the ground was on May 30 2008 when the West Indies hosted Australia, with the match ending in a draw.

Unfortunately when I visited the gates were locked and I could not get closer to the stadium to get some better photos. If you visit this stadium for a match please post some photos of the inner field and seating areas.
