This water tower located on the property of the former Robbins Mills in Red Springs, NC is reminder of the industrial disease that is spreading rampantly and unchecked across our great land.

This was once a facility that ran seven days a week, 24 hours per day. The surrounding community was a vibrant collection of lives that depended on the US textile industry for its livelihood. Now the rusting hulk of the water tower is imprisoned behind locked fences as evidence of a thriving community and industry.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1949 (LWS) STATION IS LOCATED ON THE SOUTH EDGE OF RED SPRINGS ABOUT 0.2 MILE EAST OF STATE HIGHWAY 71 AND 0.1 MILE SOUTH OF A PAVED STREET. IT IS ABOUT 100 FEET HIGH, OF STEEL CONSTRUCTION, PAINTED SILVER AND HAS FOUR LEGS. POINT OF INTERSECTION WAS THE CENTER OF BALL ON TOP.
