Hat Yai University is located in the city of Hat Yai, in the province of Songkhla, in southern Thailand. Near the university entrance is a small lake, which has, at its centre, this fountain. A half a dozen water jets shooting straight up. By accident I visited the university during a graduation ceremony and the fountain was in operation. Very likely, at less grandiose times it is not.
If you have travelled this far into southern Thailand, expect not many people, even at a university, to speak a great deal of English, and to also expect, as a westerner, to be a minor celeb when you visit a university. (Several families wanted a photo of me and their graduating son/daughter.)
