The nearby Jordan - Bowles House was constructed around 1845 by Dave Jordan, and moved to the current location, very near this water tower and windmill, by Victor Bowles, after he purchased it from Jordan's daughter's family.
The house was also used as a Stage Stop and would have had a detached kitchen. Near the kitchen would be a well. Water would have been pumped from the well into the tank to provide some "running water" functionality. All of this has been reproduced here in Bowles Park.

The windmill is an Aermotor, common in this area. Aermotor windmills were distributed via an agent in Fort Worth. The Aermotor windmill was introduced in 1888 and thus may have been an upgrade to the original plumbing system for Jordan's establishment. Back then Aermotor's factory was in the Chicago area, as the windmill says. Aermotor Windmill Company still exists and now has its factory in San Angelo, TX. (
