Adlai Stevenson (1835-1914), a Kentuckian, came to Bloomington in 1852, practiced law, and served two terms in Congress before his election in 1893 to the vice-presidency of the United States. In 1900, running on Bryan's ticket for the Same office, he was defeated, and returned to his law practice in Bloomington, where he resided until his death. - Illinois: A Descriptive and Historical Guide, 1939, pg 165.
The house is well maintained. It appears the house is now used as apartments. There is an Illinois historical marker in in front of the house and the house is a contributing building in the Franklin Square Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
