The Candlelight Wedding Chapel was located at 2855 S. Las Vegas Boulevard across from the Riviera Hotel. It was build in 1966 and is a duplicate of The Little Church of the West and based on an 1859 Episcopal Church located in Sonora, California. From the time it opened in 1968, it has changed management, ownership, names and exterior color several times. When Gordon Gust became the proprietor in 1977, it was one of sixteen wedding chapels in Las Vegas and Clark County, and it performed an average of 25 to 30 weddings per week. Celebrities such as Michael Caine, Clayton Moore (Lone Ranger), Bette Midler, Whoopi Godlberg and Ray Liotta are among the many people married at the Candlelight. In 2004, the Candlelight Wedding Chapel closed because the land it occupied was sold to build the Fontainbleau Hotel and Casino. Gordon Gust donated the chapel to the Clark County Museum. It was an important part of Clark County's history and stands today to tell its story.
